Agreed.

A late AK350 is my 'perfect' van too,

And mine... but I jumped at an early one because they're so damn hard to find at reasonable prices. I may well work around the M4 by creating a hybrid over the winter. Could be a nice project.

Nobody's mentioned the AKS400 Caisse Basse (sp?) acertainly a close runner behind the 350.

The only 'short' vans I like are the all out Glacauto'd ones with lots of windows and by extension possibly PO vans.

I just.cannot.stand the fact that the little window doesnt line up with the spare wheel/fuel tank cover. Grrrr. It's SO displeasing on the eye!

My favorite would be the AZU250 Caisse Haut, Short and High. I'm sure the've been made in Spain or somewhere.

Or one of those double height dry cleaning / indian restuarant delivery vans.

To my experience:

- AZU. Driven the same one to all world meetings since 1981. Limited space, limited weight allowance, limited speed (425cc), but the car has become part of me.

- AK350. A dream finally came true: a 1968 one in original state. Runs nicely, a little noisy. "Modern" 602 engine. Carries 500 kilos without hesitation. It´s a beauty.

- AKS400. The aerodynamics ruin the economy and with 602 it was not much faster than my AZU. The looks is somehow nice.

- Acadiane. Probably done the most kms of all our A-models. Roomy, better ergonomics for the driver. Fuel consumption sometimes under 6 liters with 652 engine. Chassis never welded (1985 model). But too much a car ?

Because of all the journeys during 30 years the favorite one still is "Valko":
