You could try AMV.fr - I have all my vehicles with them (sorry I live in France - should have said). If you want you could insure it with them at my address and then cancel afterwards - different thinking..................

Thanks for the offer.. May take you up on that after I have tried a few other UK companies.

Post Re: French Insurance question
Using a French address is one way round the insurance, the policy would cover you to drive in the UK much the same as mine does when I'm in France for half the year. The only problem I can see is getting the actual certificate of insurance unless they will send it be email, my company does this as normal. You would need to carry it with you in any case, also ensure the vehicle has a CT you are not supposed to sell a vehicle in France without a full CT, although many people do. Looking at it getting someone with a French address is the best option. If I have it correct in France it's the vehicle that is insured not the driver, so someone else could insure the car then email the certificate to you so you could drive to the UK. Good luck.

Normally AMV send insurance documents and green sticker within 2 days. I could then post to you ASAP. Just need to sign the green part and keep in vehicle and cut out square section and stick to window ( passenger side -lhd)

The documents would have to be emailed as I'm potentially picking up car (Ami 6 break) on Friday. I would prefer to have more time but these spontaneous acts grab you rather unexpectedly! I'm presuming AMV don't email then?

I am sure they would - I use Retro Assurance and when asked they email it thru within minutes. They then send thru the mail as Chris said.

(There is an AMI 6 broken down up the road, it hasn't moved in a few days.... might pop up with the trailer

Where abouts in France are you getting on car from?
Would a trailer or an A-frame be an option

Looks like I have managed to add the car and me onto a friends policy who lives in France. Just need the cover note emailed tomorrow.
