The next feature car in the Deuche Specials series belongs to a Belgian guy named Gerry Van Dijck. You'll be pleased to know we found something other than a 2cv.

Gerry gained his driving licence in 1991 & together with his mum went to view a Beige, 1971 Dyane. While his Mum was busy negotiating with the owner, Gerry was struggling to get back out of the car due to the famous 'invisible' door handles!
These were his first steps into the wonderful world of the Citroen Dyane, not knowing this car would become his passion & a way of life...

Since Beige wasn't exactly the coolest colour for a car, it received a paint job & became Gerry's first Purple Dyane - a car he still owns today & in the same condition as it was in the early 90's. Gerry is quickly smitten with his Dyane & soon gets in touch with his local 2cv clubs & starts to attend meetings.









In 1993 another Dyane is purchased, this time it's a 1979 model in orange. Shortly after Gerry mounts the engine & gearbox from a GSA X3 on to the original chassis. 1995 sees Gerry transferring the body & running gear over to an Ami Super chassis, Delta Mic wheels are purchased & the Dyane gets lowered suspension. Gerry decides on a 'chop top' which means reducing the height of the roof, this is an involved process & one which Gerry has no previous experience of. Nevertheless, within 2 weeks the chop is completed & other modifications are being made. Progress continues to be made until the year 2000, this is when Gerry's family starts to grow & his house is in need of renovation. For many years this big project sat patiently at the back of the garage, nearly finished, but never completed due to a huge lack of time...




Infact to finish the project it needed some details finishing, fine tuning of the mechanics & a complete paint job. The colour would be purple, the same as Gerry's first Dyane & the slightly modified Dyane he used for many years as a daily driver & meeting car.



Spare time to finish the project was eventually found in 2009 & the Dyane takes to the road with a very happy owner & builder behind the wheel! Early roadtests showed that the Ami super gearbox was a little too short for higher speeds, so Gerry located & fitted a 4 speed GSA gearbox mated to the Ami super bell housing.











Gerry is rightly very proud of his own creation & enjoys the sound of the gorgeous Flat 4 through his home made stainless steel exhaust system. Gerry is responsible for all the work on this fantastic Dyane, it should be noted that all the body modifications have been executed using only steel & not fibreglass & body filler like so many! His advice to others wanting to modify their cars is simple; start with the best car you can, otherwise you have to restore before you can modify!

At home you'll find this Dyane & his regular car, an immaculate Bleu azurite Dyane, parked next to his wife's Blanc meije 2cv club. They are true enthusiasts!
