This car is a first for us as we've only ever featured European A-series variants here, however this car resides in Argentina, South America, where Citroen, and later a company called IES built 2cvs, Ami8s and Meharis for the local market. The car in question is not a 2cv at all, in fact its official name is '3cv', relating to the french horsepower rating. Whilst looking outwardly much the same as a European 2cv, there are many subtle differences, which actually mean that almost no two panels are the same. The front turn signals are mounted lower, the bumpers are built to comply with differing safety regulations to Europe. The boot lid is similar in design (although subtly different) to a Dyane, a full metal hatch with a shorter fabric roof. The rear panel uses a similat pressing to a Slough built 2cv, retaining the angle off the bootlid right to the bottom, the rear lamps are again similar, but not quite the same as European Dyane units. It's noteable that this is the only 2cv other than a Slough car to come with opening rear windows, although hinged at the front.

Cristians car was bought in 2003, it was his first 3cv, in fact, his first car. his budget of $1000 was never going to buy something perfect and ready to go, so he found this car needing restoration.

After taking some handy advice, Cristian got a job with a Citroen restorer which no doubt helped him learn valuable skills aswell as locating parts and spares he would need to build his car. The bodywork alone took him three years, learning as he went, to rebuild and respray in the classy two-colour finish you see here.

When it came to the mechanical side, the chassis and engine were in worse condition than imagined and this added another year to the rebuild, the chassis is modified to prevent damage when driving with heavily lowered suspension. The engine was rebuilt with new 9.0:1 pistons. A lot of time was spent detailing and repainting many of the parts under the bonnet.

Not wanting to cut corners or skimp on the quality, the attention to detail is evident in the subtle modifications carried out. simple things like carefully redesigning the speedo face, trimming the seats in white leather and having many components chrome plated, or rechromed if not up to the high standard Christian was aiming for, have all come together to result in one of the most well finished A-series cars in South America.
