Post Re: LSD for a 2cv
Hi everybody. I am new at the site. Some of the Brits and Aussies know me. We seem to be allready six or seven interested to buy a Quaife LSD. That is Lauri FIN, Rick GB, Shayne AUS and Greg AUS and those allready mentioned on this page. I myself have very good experience of the diff in my 16 valve BX. It has proven to be good both on normal and ice track race use. For off roaders the only bad thing is, as far as I know, the fact that when a wheel is airborne the diff works like an open diff. It needs some grip on both wheels. Here in Finland on slippery winter roads it`s perfect!

Cheers
Lauri SSSF PR

Hi likn, welcome to the forum.

Tell us more about your cars! You race a BX on ice?

Post Re: LSD for a 2cv
Sorry, it took so long to reply. I am now in India, coming back in two weeks.
The Citroens are 2cv6, 2cv16, BX 16 valve, BX Sport, Xantia HDi Break and SM. + one 2cv in Australia for the Raids.

I did drive a lot of ice track races in the -80s and 90s. That time we had better ice on top of our lakes in Southern Finland. Plenty of cars were participating. I used the 2 cyl and later the 4 cyl 2cv, the latter also with special ice track studded tyres. The 2cyl 2cv (a little tuned) was very good in the highway tyres class. Nowadays we do not get decent ice every winter, so now a smaller group takes part, when it is possible. The last years I ve used my BX in the ice race tyres class. (Long spikes, strong grip) The fastest competitors are now the BMW M3:s. Normally they are slower than the BX, but there is one SS (special saloon group) very lightweight and powerful M3, which was one second faster per lap (about 1,5KM) than us. Something to look forward...
I`ll try to find an old video to show how it looks when a 2cv and a group A Toyota GT have a duel...

Cheers Lauri pr etc

Talking about ice track racing. I did some yesterday in my BX. Won the 2wd class. We were driving on legal road tyres, this time. A video clip from the pre race training: Enjoy

As U can see, the fancy and expensive 4wd:s are not necessarily faster than a BX Citroen. Next year I maybe take my 2cv there...

Cheers

 That's mental, are there many crashes? there would be if I tried that, but it looks like you've had plenty of practice.

No bad crashes. Mostly BMW:s and other RWD drivers lost control sometimes (even if they were much slower than the 4x4:s and FWD:s) and could get a little damaged. The actual race was a sprint type; we started in 30 sec interwals, and luckily, no BMW was starting in front of me...

I was 6 sec slower than the fastest 4x4 (a Mitsubishi Evo 9, probably) and 6 sec faster than the second best 2WD (an Opel Cadett) They have not put the results in the net, yet.

Next race after 2 weeks.
