So how do you tension the chain?

Currently no tensioner , based on fixed shafts and this ..

Try out for the additional shaft, with dog selector.
Re-using a top shaft and the third gear dog selector parts.
Ignore the large hole in the casing, this was an attempt to use gears like a Mehari 4x4.

Got the 13 tooth sprocket, splined done with EDM (wire cut).

Chain and sprockets in alignment, need to fabricate a a longer syncro/dog selector.

So you remove the end plate of the standard gearbox?
