With chain drive?

Chain drive isn't uncommon, some offroad-cars has them on transfer box. Range Rovers (not all), Land Cruisers, some American made...

Interested about? Yes, a lot. Like to see the build photos...

Have been thinking how to make a transfer box with centre diff. Liked very much of "three diff transmission" at six years saga with couple of Range's, and still don't like the Land Rover Series transferbox without centre diff. Have some sketch, but no real solution to make yet... Full time 4wd is what I like, especially with manual diff lock on centre diff, with viscous wasn't same at all...

Using industrial duplex chain, 08B size, Looked at automotive “Silent chain” but can’t get the ratios, and new parts are very expensive.
Will have a step down ratio (13:25) and dog clutch at the gearbox end,
Rear cut down Diff / prop always connected.
Waiting on some “alu” plate at the moment.
Will post some more pics…..
Cheers
Peter

Takes the drive from the front gear box to the rear Diff.

Why don't you use the output shaft, to hook you chain to, like a mehari 4x4 does to. Much less power evaporates and you can directly connect to your reardiff what you already have made.

Hi Lpgo,

The Steering rack is in the way!

See Mehari documentation, extra gear and shaft below the pinion shaft.
