This is not the way to sell your chassis you know.....

Actually AK type raid chassis are in production as we mail and available from October onwards

so would do the job very well!!

Well having done over 100000 miles in my 4x4 I recon its perfectly usable for normal use if you make some allowances.

With the 1-2-Spark I get 48mpg on a long run. Round town it's the same as a usual 2CV I suppose. It is slower but I can get to 75mph (rev limiter kicks in), I tend to stick to 60ish when going on the motorway. Range is around 180 miles on my 19 litre tank

I've got 4 seats in mine so the whole family can fit in. Boot space is limited as I've got the back end cut off. Spare wheel is under bonet so when camping alone I can get all my stuff in the boot. If the whole family goes I have to take a trailer anyway and I have a tow bar that fits.

You have to get used to waving a lot as loads of passing cars take photos and wherever you stop folk will ask questions!!

I've not done serious off road in mine for a while now and tend to do green laneing more now so repair costs are the same as standard 2CV. Wings will get bent but I use 2nd hand ones that are pre dented so it does not matter if I dent them more.

Vredestein tires last for ever. I've for some that have done 50,000 miles.

Come winter that's when the real fun starts. If it snows you will always be able to drive. If you are on wet campsites you will always get be able to drive off.

Essentailly its a slower 2CV that can be used in exactly the same way... But it goes anywhere.

Just find some photos and one promotion brochure, what I had from 12th International World Meeting at netherlands. Had some chat with mr. Barbour there, about making 4x4...


And yes, I had plans before that meeting, and talking with mr. Barbour confirmed I had make plausable plans...


Something has happened on those years, project really started later on that year, some years later I have made rear axle, modifications to transmission and readr diff, but then a little crash stopped this for a decade...


But maybe at some point, I will have some experience about living with 4x4..?

What is the device on the rear box? Viscous coupling ?

Yes, viscous coupler from VW Syncro...

And yes, I know they became heavier than 4x2. Trying to have as light as can, for now, but later I'm going to use zinc plated Ami Super chassis. But that will happen after techical inspection, my goal is to keep all four seats on, and if the weight raises too much they will reduce seats...

Please tell me that you still can disengage 4x4, otherwise you need a very very very well balanced propshaft...

The propshaft in a 2cv is doing about 3 times the rpm of a normal (VW) propshaft; so it really needs to be well balanced otherwise your drive-line will brake in parts when driving at high speed..


I had Always trouble at this with mine (ok. it was welded on eyes and not in a jig and or lathe)...
