Gave it another tought and suddenly remembered, My dad has a triumph spitfire, it has an overdrive fitted, never really looked at it but as far as i know it is also a planitairy thing to lower the enginespeed. If you'd use a 2cv4, low geared gearbow and fit 1 of those on each side, you'd be done....

Double reduction? So it spins backwards then forwards? A gear within a gear, within a gear - A gearbox version of inception.

You should use a double planetairy gear with a singel outerring, the wheels inside the second one will turn the driving direction again so it will go forward again.

The problem as i see it is this

Gearboxes are about the 2nd most expensive part to make after the engine.
most 4x4 use standard boxes with reduction box after
Shit idea
2cv is one of the only cars built with an internal reduction already in place
rev 1 and 2 gears are all reduced internally

Solution
Re design the 2cv box with rev 1,2,3 a gears all available in normal reduction mode or extra low
Then add 5th and 6th gears for a good long distance driving and economy (not reduced)

Easy just bloody deer about 5000 euro a box min quantity 200

ask Quaife i did!!

Oh and to add fun fit a 4x4 system to the lower part of the casing, Easy
