Post Africar
I found these interesting articles about the ultimate low cost 4x4 vehicle that can be constructed from local materials, also using 2cv and GS parts...

1984 - 1st year of C4

By all accounts they were a pig to drive and blew the 2cv gearbox casings apart at regular intervals - the suspension was over stressed and burst the Moulton hydragas units but that was "a design feature" as was the un drivable (on tarmac) steering geometry the 4wd system never got going. The crew abandoned the trip halfway through and Anthony Howarth came across as an arrogant pig who did time for fraud.

Ive always hankered after one, got the book and the programme on an un-watchable DVD somewhere

a few of the cars were released a while ago and someone was trying to get one of them going

I've been a passenger in this one and had paid to have the second one off the production line !!!

The running was changed to be Subaru 4 x 4 for the production version but it never happened.

Managed to get my money back before they went under.
