I found these interesting articles about the ultimate low cost 4x4 vehicle that can be constructed from local materials, also using 2cv and GS parts... http://www.difflock.com/diffmag/issue10/Africar2/index.shtml http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/africar/africar.htmlHarley

The crew abandoned the trip halfway through and Anthony Howarth came across as an arrogant pig who did time for fraud. Ive always hankered after one, got the book and the programme on an un-watchable DVD somewhere a few of the cars were released a while ago and someone was trying to get one of them going

 Re: Africar
I've been a passenger in this one and had paid to have the second one off the production line !!! The running was changed to be Subaru 4 x 4 for the production version but it never happened. Managed to get my money back before they went under.
