What's the consensus for using front sway bar off road?

I have an ami front sway bar on my 2cv and was thinking that although it keeps the car level when cornering it would adversely effect traction when climbing steep, rough terrain by not allowing the front arms to travel independently... Thoughts?

My 1/2 cent
Off-Road you need the maximum independent suspension travel.
So no ARB.
Extreme Off-Road reduce the height of the droop stop rubbers.

I remember in Raid Australia 2008, Esma ang Goran in car #15had bars, both in front and the back on their AK 400.
Some times they had major problems in areas where standard 2CV's just drove through.

Tim had the same problem:

Great pic Thomas!
We missed you on the Viking raid :(
I also think that Groan and Tim where well over loaded.
I remember a post about disconnecting one side of the sway bar but I can't remember under what circumstance., ice perhaps...?
