Aye, it seems to me that there can sometimes be a very fine line between engineering and sculpture.
The same comment applies to Jasu's creations... :)

Thanks Ken, Engineering only if it works and doesn't break first time out, as for sculpture, judging by whats been in the Tate Modern, I could have an entry :D

Ordered a special bearing from a well know supplier to they spec on a PDF and invoice, arrived
and found to be 4mm larger in OD then the spec. Emailed my feedback, new bearing now in the post to me.

Looking better the less metal there is...

Completed the Top, Sides and Bottom of the rear cover.

Its sturdy as it has to support the bearings for the middle gear and the lower output shaft.

Some kids never grow out of their meccano set!
Luv your work Pete, have been keeping up to date with your topic.
I'm back in the UK now having come then gone then come again!
Question: how hard/easy/expensive do you think it would be to get a custom crown wheel and pinion machined for an LNA gearbox?
I'm wanting to reduce the ratio to that similar of an old 2cv box.

Cheers

Hi Harley,
Good to see your still keen on 2cvs.
Lower ratio than 4.125??
Else See last bottom of last page

Bespoke crown wheel and pinion a 1off maybe a guess £500 ++.

@ Pete. luv your work.. Building your own transferbox is no shit.

@ Harley.. Crownwheel of LN is the lowest 33/8 as is Gs 1015 out of my head.. All others are 31/8

LN is the lowest Gs type gearbox. you can,t get much lower because lack if space to make a decent smal and big gear... Thats why 2cv is geared in 2 stages..
