Unfortunitely most of my shots were shaky but here are 2 views from my car and Ru's

On the second time round they had pumped more water into the pond and by the 3rd time round the exit was so rutted and steep even my pal in his Landy 110 with 285 tyres was worried about getting out.

2CV4x4 with me and 3 passengers got out fine...

Had a great time today at this, the tracks were fantastic, however the looks on peoples faces were priceless. The marshals on the tracks were great, all volunteers too, and a pretty good vibe the whole day.

Sorry about that, SF. Its pretty hard to get steady shots from a moving 2cv.

Here are the shots I took from my camera phone from today:

Ready for the off. (not mine though :( )

Image
There were two tracks, Easy and Hard. This is an easy bit of Easy.

Image
Marshal: Is that a 4x4 mate?
SF: yep, look under the boot as I drive over this precipice.
Marshal: Awesome!

Image
SF: Finally, a clear bit of track

Image
Passing on the dual carriageway

Image
Queueing for the mudbath near to the finish

Image
Marshal: Is that a 4x4 mate?
SF: Yep.
Marshal: Well don't worry, we'll tow you out when you get stu... oh, you've gone.
Marshal: Cool!

Image
Ru mixing it with the big boys

Image
Another easy bit for Ru..

Image
A lot steeper than it looks...

Image
...see. Ru just completing part of the Hard track. Range Rover merging from the Easy track :D

Image
Imagine how it must feel to see this in the rear view mirror of your hardcore 4x4 8.7 litre Maybatsu Monstrosity

Image
Caution - uneven road surface

Image
Pausing at the finish, Not a scratch ...

Image
... and not stuck once

Image
Safely back to the start ready for another go.

Thanks Neil :D
No, no mud for me this time, it was borderline 'have a go' for a 2wd, but there was a fair bit of grounding out going around, but maybe next time with suspension wound up a bit and if there is a front to back undertray fitted. That would be quite fun having a go... on the Easy track anyway.

A few more cool pictures from other people of the event from a quick google:

I love the way the range rover's grille is frozen in mid air flying off.

Stuck - Oops

Always loved those VW Bus Synchros!

Oh yeah and a few notable mentions on other forums (fora?) turned up in the search:

Indeed, twas a good weekend. I got to play Sat and Sun morning, then Marshalled in the afternoons.

There were a few err, unusual motors going round, couple of 2CV's, a new Merc (lost half his front bumper), a couple of VeeDub camper vans and a new Skoda thing that also raised a few laughs.

Surprising how many road only cars, with road tyres, were giving it a go. Fair play.

So far as I can tell, everyone had a really good time, including the guy in the Lada who blew his clutch yesterday and clearly worked all night to fix it as he was haring arounda gain today, the two guys in the 2CVs, the guy in the Volvo XC90 (I'll never be rude about them again - just maybe their owners, and not including this guy!!!) and even the guy in the hummer (if you want a good capable off-roader, the XC90 is a better bet than the hummer, chaps!!) and the lady in the bog-standard roadgoing Nissan estate car, though she took our advice to leave before the bigger hills, she'd have done a lot better with a few lessons she just drive in of the road and "gave it a go".

The two 2CVs really were the highlight for me - largely standard (one had a raised air intake and they may both have had raised rear bumpers) with road tyres, making light work of parts of the course some in serious "tricked up" 4x4s were struggling with. Simply brilliant :)

The other surprise was how many of the vehicles sporting raised air intakes, mud tyres and other off-road accessories seemed to choose the easy rather than the hard obstacles.

I'll probably get muddy next year.

Gotta have a go!! :-)

I'm worried I'll get my Defender stuck - perhaps I should get a 2CV for next year ;)
