... AYD 856H ex EDF AZU, 4X4'd in the mid 90s. I seem to recall it was advertised in the mag minus the running gear...

cool van, just wondered if anyone knew what became of it?

Was this Fat Mans van?

I remember it having the 4x4 kit removed and it was then sold to someone called Ant?

Fat man's? can't remember!

i saw it at Marlow and i don't think it had been over here long at that time & was still all original...

i saw it in its 4x4 guise once, but can't for the life of me remember where or when!

Time to resurrect an ancient thread...

I've found Ant on another forum (i have pointed him in this direction...) Turns out the van has been sat in his house in Hungary for the past 10 years, but is still in good order. Van is still on a Barbour chassis but minus rear diff & transfer box...


Hopefully he'll be along to fill us in.

Oh, & yes it was Fat man's.

Last time I saw it was in 1998 at an Alley Cats offroading camp. By Rochefort that year Fat Man had moved onto a 4x4 2cv saloon which I think utilised the rear diff and other bits off the van.

The van wasn't particularly successful as a 4x4 as it was prone to tipping over according to FM...
