Re: 2WD Budget Off Road 2CV? is it possible?
Could someone enlighten me on how to seal the 123 Ignition effectively?
Steve

Ensure the seat where the 123 fits is clean. Fit profiled washers in place of the square ones to seal the adjustment slots. Attachment:

Use sealant round the cablejoint . Attachment:

After adjusting/testing ignition seal round unit. This set up has survived numerous immersions. Note A DGNition has no holes in the PCB so is slightly better re waterproofing Attachment:

Thanks, subarupete!
I see that the electronic ignition in your pics is not the 123 ignition that I have. Do the same principles apply to my 123 ignition, especially behind (on the PCB)?

Same applies to the 123, but be more careful about ensuring a perfect seal as, if you look at the back of your 123 the PCB has many small holes in which allow moisture into the electronics if it get through the sealant.
I have a 123 which got soaked and failed, 123 will repair for €50

Sancerre 2cv Toute Terrain weekend - and everybody's footling about at the quarry/play-site. When the recovery/support LandCruiser Amazon gets stuck. So Mark volunteers to tow it out. With tractor tyres, very low ratio boxes, front and rear difflocks. On goes the kinetic recovery rope. Which gets stretched. And stretched. And stretched. And stretched. The sodding rope was about the thickness of dental floss, and the Toyota was _just_ starting to show signs of moving. When there was a bang, closely followed by another bang. Sounded like somebody firing both barrels of a shotgun. We probably would have thought it was hunters, apart from seeing Mark heading backwards rapidly. With no wheel drive. Gawd, that was a _top_ weekend. Fatman offering to fill everybody's car up in the morning. Little did we know the village petrol station was also a cafe, and he was having a large Calvados each time.

Back of my 123, different bolts with large washers and sticky-back plastic "Fablon" from yesteryear. But haven't tried it! Attachment:

Mastic. Undo the electronics and put mastic on the mating faces. Undo the union where the cables go in and stuff mastic in there and retighten. Worked for my 123 which has been dipped and frozen! I'll post some pics when I get a minute...

Re: 2WD Budget Off Road 2CV? is it possible?
I was talking to one of Louis Barbar's guys at Hove park on Sunday (the chap that owns the new orange 4x4) and he said that they have in development an off road 4x2 kit that they want to make available for under £1000 in the next year. He siad that they rekon there's a gap in the market for people that want to do a bit of green laning/muddy fields etc... I think they're right! It'll come with a strengthened chassis that'll put the weight of the car up by about 70 kilos. I really hope something comes of this
