I would strongly suggest to keep the car more horizontal than vertical ;)

Please be careful with those pain killers. The tolerance raises too easy and too high, and you need to use them more. Don't ask me how I know, but after over eleven years daily use teaches a lot of them...

Manual at the moment....

I think you don't really need any automatics on your suspension. Usually you have same load on your 2cv, it doesn't vary nearly at all. Opposed to daily driven car, what you use to shops, carry people etc...

Also easy-to-use manual controlling is what you might need at off-road use. Especially if you can control both sides, or even every wheel individually. Ok, with some sensors more, there could be some automation what keeps body near vertically what ever there is under wheels, but maybe only manual controlled is simple enough to work on those off-road conditions...

What I say, I wouldn't resist to make automatic control if I had a hydraulic suspension. And, maybe some year I have..?

The set up now is controlled by 4 switches that allow the up/down movement, so that each Arm(wheel) can be adjusted on its own. So all MANUAL, still learning how behaves and to "guess" how long to hold the switches to get the height correct, that's just when its not moving and with no reaction with the road.

I think I need some sort of indicator??? to show height for the front and the rear at the normal ride height.

The C5 has a front ARB, attached to that is a control which tells the pump to stop, same at the rear. Not having any ARB's have to come up with another solution?

Modern air suspension often uses some sort of pot meters, 1 on every wheel to gather information on the ride height.

Unfortunately, all these gadgets are quite expensive. I suspect these are even more expensive, but very interesting: http://www.activesensors.com/datasheet/mls.pdf

Oops, my bad. Well, writing on foreign language with "little helpers" makes mistakes too easy...

About sensors on suspension. C5 have two of them, one in each axle. If I remember correct, it is a potentiometer, so it gives nice voltage reading depending the height of suspension. C6 have them on every wheel, same sensors. Not too expensive even new, about 50€ piece, must be cheaper at scrapyards... On C5, height is measured from ARB, and the ARB is necessary because left/right suspension cylinders are connected together, and without ARB car will tilt...

Or, make them by your own, for example, from TPS -sensor...

With these kind of sensors, you can have 0-5 volt signal, and then it is possible to scale what-ever -gauge to show the height of any wheel. Also with that signal, pot on dash and some comparators and drivers, simple automation is created to have ride height what you want...

Better look for a sealed version, otherwise a lot of time and money is lost to seal it off yourself.
TPS might be a good idea, but you'll have to make sure it's sealed, and that it's a sort of linear working thing, some cars just use a one or two on/off switches as TPS.

The rear height of Darko's Van ( DAK ) is controlled by the amount of barrels of Shember
White wine he has in the back . 6 max
its not automatic, more of a manual system, but does gown quite often
especially on a weekend

hope this helps

Put the control switches in a Box, to keep the water off them.

The 2 switches on the left control up/down of the front and the rear.

The 4 switches to the right control the up/down of each corner.
