When can you come and fit one :?: ;)

It is to far for my to come over, (I would love too otherwise seeing this beast live) but I can send you a unit if you like, you did a bloody hell of a job here, so I think you can manage welding a little plate to the flywheel, and welding the sensorholder to the inlet manifold...... thats all you need to do.....

I could pick one up next time I'm over and help Pete fit and tune it if you want!!

I driled and taped 6mm threaded (steel bolt) at 45 deg BTDC for my 1-2 spark. Works fine - did have heavy flywheel which gives you more material to work with.

Q1. Did you do it with the engine in the car?
Q2. How did you locate 45 deg?
Q3. Pictures?

Cheers

Yes engine was in car. Once located correct position and marked it, I turned crank around so I could drill from below as more room. If I remember correctly 11.5 teeth more than 8 deg BTDC - Geo can correct me if I am wrong. Photo of bolt etc on my blog 1976Dyane 6.52 page 7 :)
One thing to note is the sensor will be close to the ring gear so make sure there is a gap and sensor cannot move. Once set up correctly it has worked fine ever since.

Post Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
so here's my idea/deal........

Next time Mark is near my place, I will give him a new unit mark II with mapsensor,

you can have his unit (he's driving at the moment) then, he can install/tune it at your place and can learn how to tune it to you.
(Hope Mark can life without his old unit)

So when you are satisfied with it you give me 60 euro's over backaccount so that I can buy new bits and pieces to keep the project alive...........

At your beast you don't need a Mark II the only diffrence/advantige is the mapsensor giving you extra fuelefficiency cruising along (doing 50/65 mile/hour) which you won't do ofcourse...... I guess..

Installing manual:

Put a drill in the hole of the flywheel as if you are checking the ignition.
Make a mark where you can count the tooth at the flywheel to the engine body
Now standing at the fan-site of the engine, turn the engine anti-clockwise 11 tooth...

Now this is the position the plate/bolt needs to be exactly under the sensor.
(For control the hole in the flywheel must be in 5 past 12 position (minit pointer)

If you have a nice location (I always mount the sensor to the left of the starter engine)....
you can weld/drill everything. You can watch how it is done at Marks car......

I first make the plate/bolt to the flywheel, then put the sensor above the plate/bolt with a little washer in between them , and weld it in place, then you have nice (0.75/1mm) gap which should be fine...... (don;t forget to take the washer away)

The smaller the gap the better the signal is (only needed for crancking) at 3000 rpm you can take the sensor 10mm away and it still will run....... but to small less then 0.3mm can give you wrong signals........ so 0,75 to 1mm is fine. (It's no rocket science)

What do you think?????

New Pistons/Barrels.
Starts more easily and has more of a bark from the exhaust.
