 Re: A 4x4 is (re)born
Today I made the mounting of the back-gearbox, It's done like the backdiff from a Mehari 4x4, only modified to make it work at my chassis. Drilled a lot of holes to make it as light as possible. Here's the front mounting of the back-gearbox, at a Mehari 4x4 it lays between the chassis but my chassis is 11cm higher so it is made underneath. frontmounting completed to fit it at my chassis. Next is is to chop of everything in front of the engine mount.

 Re: A 4x4 is (re)born
Take a good look at this pic; Axle going underneath the chassis!!!!!!!!!!! Working perfect, the only thing is when the wheel reely deflects the drive-shaft is hitting the rear arm so Louis when you read this make me a good offer for two of your rear-arms. Otherwise this is the perfect solution for maximum travel....... 2cv 4x4 trick, throwing the rearlights out, the reason why I do this is to bring the body down to propotional hight. ridiculous clearance between tyre and fender (but (for me) it looks cool doesn't it) The front mounting from the engine is 5 cm higher then at a normal 2 2cv so the arrival angle?? is improving a lot. Also when I lower the body 5 cm what I am doing everything fits again at the right height. (Look at the rear end pic) it is now 5cm free because the body is still in the middle at its original height so when I drop the body it fits.
