Good stuff. I have no idea of the what route to take and don't know anything about the tracks and border control issues. We need a person willing to take that job on, hint hint

I would like to try putting up a more accurate route at about 6000 km including dirttracks. Off course this route would still be open for discussion.

Good on you Ulrik Image

6000 km in 18 days = roughly 330 km per day. See post in Daily travel times

We have to decide wether we are going to travel through many contries or the most important is to find the smallest most beutyfull tracks. There are plenty of smal tracks in Morrocco to spend a half year driving there.
The trip across the Algerian part of Sahara is quite a lot of kilometers but with fairly good roads myabe that is not what we are loooking for?

Morrocco gets my vote
More than enough to see
Mountain passes on goat tracks, deep gorges wide open hammadas and even sand dunes to play in. Plenty to challenge but always an alternative tarmac for those days when you just dont fancy pushing body and machine to their limits.

No red tape or politics and apart from the tourist traps and the dodgy Ceuta area very friendly locals.

Sean
Ill just leave the trip to Tamanrasset and the Hogar for the future ;)

I have now found out that wild camping, is allowed as long as you are away from big cities and not to close to houses.

This is of course important according to the the route planing, and specially since we expect to be several cars.

Post Re: Raid route
Here is a raw sketch of the raid route.
Going further from here is quite a work were I will have to become very specific and write down coordinates and some text to tell people how to follow the route.
This means that if I go on from here I don't want to do it all over again.
I hope you can accept this. The route is made from the following criteriea: dirt-roads or just wheel-tracks has high priority, I am searching for water crossing though some of them will be wet, we are in the Sahara region at summertime so probably many will be dry crossings but still it makes the driving more interesting. and off course I am doing a lot of research to find beautiful places. when we really are in the dessert most nights will be spend there, but near cities I will look for official camp-sites. In the two or three bigger cities we visit I will look for Hotels.
Before the satwiev there are some fotos, showing a little of what we can see along the route.

That is excellent Ulrik. Once the route is settled on we should be able to determine how many days we will raid and where roughly each day will end. If the raid route could appear with written text like day 1 day 2 rest day and so on. Maybe with a daily actual rolling time also indicating total kilometer from camp to camp.

I agree,
I would like to make a precise decription in text and map, I think this is a neccecarity since we somtimes won't be using roads that can actually be seen on a map.
Furthermore sometimes the tracks can be very wide and difficult to find.
Maybe it is important to say that I am counting on the use of gps.
