Ok here we go. It may lead to nothing but it is worth a try. Everything in life begins with an idea. Based on Raid Australia which is an international success story, Raid Africa has been mentioned on many occasions amongst raiders from all over the world. Raiding in Africa is nothing new, today done by many groups of 2cv enthusiast mainly the French and the Belgium’s. Not here to criticize either of them but the French are not interested in speaking anything else but French. The Belgium team is from what I know, also very well organized, travelling on first class with an entourage of top class support. No worries at all but very expensive. Raid Australia is the total opposite, no fancy stuff, just plain basic 2cv travel, sleeping in tents around campfires every night. The TEC (Tail End Charlie) are participates in their own 2cv, carrying all parts and know how when break-down occurs. At this stage, we are only a handful of 2cv folks interested in raiding in Africa on a budget and conducting the event in English only. This should open the doors to many nationalities, most people understand some English. We are not a raid organization; we are simply 2cv people wanting to raid Africa cheap as possible for roughly 4 weeks or thereabouts. To minimize too much trouble, 20-25 cars may be appropriate the first time and more cars if another raid is established later. We are aiming for 2011 with a finish at the world meeting in France

The route is not yet established + many other thinks needs to be look at and discussed. Having this forum is an excellent opportunity to taste if this event will ever take off.
Please feel free to join in with your inputs good or bad. Have you done some raiding in Africa before? Your informations will be appreciated a lot.

Enjoy this

Hi

I would love to be kept up to date on this.

I am a mad nut 2CVer, with very...very...few responsibilities to others.

I have done lots of weird adventure stuff and dreamed of doing something extended in a 2CV. I am currently doing up a property here to sell and then go off and do some mad stuff.

This would be a dream for me to do...OK maybe a pipe dream...but keep the info flowing here...

...Life for me is for living.....I might be able to be part of this....and so keep me posted.

Why not just a drive from Land's End-John O'Groats(LE-JOG)? Think it would be cool,I know the Morris Minor club do it once a year(within 24hrs!!). Would be better than London-Brighton ;) Camping both ends!!

i'd certainly like to be kept in the loop on this one. I'd love to do the toureg but it's very expensive and I'd want to go in my own car, it's been everywhere with me!

i often dream about crating her up and driving from NYC to calafornia.....
