Is credit cards OK (fuel and food etc) or cash. If cash, where and how much will get us through?

Morrocco is a fairly forward mediterrainian country with aspirations to be back in Europe

euros will be fine and EVERYONE will give you a better rate than the banks but beware of the guys that find you and offer you good deals...if its too good to be true!

dont know if it still applies but there was a minimum exchange you had to do to Dirham, actually struggled to spend it in 10 days.

most big towns will have a bank and a beurau but as long as you have hard cash youll never be stuck, fuel and jerricans can be exchanged almost as readily as cash in the mountains, and despite being an Islamic country a big box of minatures of whiskey or brandy are most appreciated by the police that have to man the checkpoints in remote areas. Aparently the koran doesnt specifically name whisky-a nice little loophole ;) but hide it so it doesnt get "confiscated" at immigration

as for budget i think we struggled to actually spend money, even eating well in cafes( choose the ones that only have locals eating in them) wont break the budget.

our biggest splurge was a 5**** big chain hotel with a swimming pool and so much hot water, was about £80 for the two of us........cash
