Another raid van is heading down under. This time an AK 350. Had to fit seat belts and front wing indicators. The van will be used on our Viking Raid in August (if it gets there in time) Bugger I forgot the dog |

On the french side, 3000 euros including truck dropping the container at our address, transport to port all port fees and several taxes. The Australian side to come, including car import taxes etc etc. Not a cheap adventure, only pushing up prices for 2cv's in Oz. |

The container trip is around $ 1000 US. The rest is port charges, costums, taxes and fees to the forwarder + all the hidden charges you are not told about. No ships from Europe sail direct to Oz (not enough goods, small amount of people) but are dropped in Asia. From there feeder ships carry the goodies to several ports around Oz including NZ. This only add to the bill. |

Little Louis wrote: Are there no Ro/Ros that go direct to aus? Yes but to risky, seen several cars missing their camping gear, tools even head lights and mirrors removed. Add fucked handbrake and gear lever, damage to the body etc etc which no insurance company will cover. Don't mind paying heaps more knowing the cars arrive safely. Life is expensive, this is one of them |

I'll let you know after the van is out from port. 2 ways: Carnet de passage, Visa for your car. Some raiders are shipping their own cars to raid and back again. 12 month, if not shipped out of Australia, the car will be confiscated and destroyed. Fully imported, registation a daymare. Car must comply to ADR (Australian Design Rules) almost impossible unless born before 1969 + the scheme is for Australians or permanent residence. Everything here http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... index.aspx except registration, be careful |
