Good show of Dyanes!

the raid had groups with a Berliet truck as support, These groups tended to be types of vehicle so you got a bunch of 2cvs a group of Dyanes and a group of vans all travelling independently from each other but coming together at rendezvous. Looks like the photographer was in a Dyane gaggle.

As for the blue one with the big lamp guards, ive never seen it in any of the promotional film or any of the the group photos( or that Orange No1 driven by Wolgensenger for that matter) there were a few photos of that car and a buttermilk doing some Africa trip, Citropolis did a poster of the two of them crossing the Niger on a log raft, None of the pictures of them have assigned car Nos on the doors under the mirror, nor the Raid Afrique roundels.
and from what i can see none had the metal "safari"roof the cars may well have done the 73 raid but many of the pictures only show the 2 of them in that set up travelling as a pair

I have one original 2CV Raid D'Afrique: the number is 59.
It is a 2CV and I have restored.
The car went in Africa and I found it in France.
If someone has other original car of Raid Afrique please, tell me!
:D

WOW!

Do you have any pictures? I'm sure there would be a lot of interest.

Welcome to the forum. :)

edit:

59 can be seen in the bottom right of this picture:

Maybe they were the pathfinders, doing the route a few weeks or months before the raid proper sussing out the route and its suitability for 2cv? That would explain why they find their way into so much Citroen official material. :geek: That would also explain Neil's new picture below where it seems to be parked under a sign advertising Raid Afrique - in France? in Africa?

You know my theory on the orange #1 conservatoire car Sean, I reckon its a restored #4 which Wolgensenger must have had for the raid rebadged as #1. It has the same accessories, and even stickers in the windscreen :geek: :geek:

most of the cars have a very similar make up - down to the position of the stickers, think the organisers were really strict on how the cars were prepped, thats what makes me think that blue one never took part in factory raid in that set up.

and as for
