The first pic is the car I drove there and back. Most stressful journey of my life...

Seeing your pictures, it must have been quite an adventure taking a britsch racer across to Belgium and race.

No, it's bad business, makes 2cv racing a joke when journalists and other onlookers see all the engine carnage in the pits.

Before the bad camshaft was introduced myself & Richard Dalton built many race engines & won several 24hour races with never a single engine failure.

The problem in the later seasons has most likely been the self-profiling of the re-profiled camshaft due to the fact that Kent cams are provided with Citroen cams which are chilled cast iron & only hardened to a shallow depth, the grind required for the 'special' cam is so severe that the hardened cast is completely ground through.

With a soft faced cam the leading ramp is becoming worn flat rather than convex - making the cam far more severe than even the flawed design required.

 I don't think the control bit of the camshaft is the problem, but the profile, which is more 'agressive'. I suspect a control cam with a like or close to original profile would save a lot of engines. However the control cam is good business for you Roy... you can sell more bits, so why complain ;)

Fair enough, I didn't consider the joke thing...

About the profile; I can really judge it because I have never seen one of those cams nor been involved in 2CVracing.
However it makes sence, beside the fact that the profile is more severe it wears, goes through the hardening so gets even worse for the rest of the valvetrain...

A short impression of Spa 2008:

A friend of mine strapped his camera on his front bumper while driving around
the track - that's a great view:
