Re: Oulton Park, Saturday 29th May
Oulton Update - (will put together a proper one a little later) we suffered with water in the fuel, hardly suprising considering the weather! which really didn't help with top end rev's: The big off I had in Race 2 was at Cascades which is a flat out corner - as I went to turn left onto the Island Straight the steering locked and I went Gravel/Grass Tracking lucky really to keep out of the Barriers and Marshall Post - Just a passenger!!!!!!!! On looking at the car after we discovered that we have a bent steering arm, with the water in the fuel, looks like the fuel cap seal had perished.......

There we go, thats why it would not turn Left!
Welds failed between the offside steering hub and the track rod end lever arm, which led to one of the bolts sheering, with the load on the o/s wheel when I went to turn, looks like it just swiveled!!!!!!

Is it normal to weld them on race cars? I'm surprised if it's necessary.

I think that before the use of 'Belgium (Welsh) Arms' there was the odd failure, so the welds were added safety
