Great stuff
May I ask what happend to the wheel bearing?

i think they put it in the skip

Sean

( there was a few bearing failures this year, our main competitor had to change a bearing with 2 hour to go . There is a fair bit of wheel to wheel contact during the race we lost 3 rims, gadgets car rolled in a spectacular 3 full turns in the air holyywood style after sliding sideways in to the kerbs, never a good move for wheelbearing longevity )

Post Re: Snetterton 24 Hour
I had worries about ours after the damage, I was surprised to find that after the impact all the right front wheelnuts were loose, which they weren't before. We also noticed (at the end) the rose joint for the Belgian arm that side was unattached one end, I'm assuming the crash damage caused that too. I'm interested to see what the damage to the rack is, as our drivers reported a lot of play in the steering after it's accident.

Ken, thanks for your advice, I'd just got up and was in no fit state for anything when that happened, it would have probably taken much longer to sort out if you'd not been there. We definately owe you a piece of cake.

It would be interesting to know the 3 winning cars motor config. and what gear box they are running. Any info on that?
Would love to race one day.
Cheers

Post Re: Snetterton 24 Hour
I don't know where you're looking, but the timing classification for the first hour says we did 22 laps. We had to change a carb and inlet and then adjust the float level. We had fuelling issues that didn't show themselves in practice, qualifying or warm up, but reared it's ugly head after two laps. We misdiagnosed it as fuel starvation when in effect it was actually overfuelling, and our adjustment on the engine mounts merely served to make it worse. Thankfully, it was only in the pits for a few laps and then sorted. The only other problems we had were boiling brake fluid at 3:45am which I suspect was down to the handbrake being left on after a pitstop, and the silencer became holed at some point which we welded a patch over and carried on. We also had to change a tyre because the c2cvrc dictate we must use toyos. Which are shit.

at an educated guess:-
standard 2cv6 box -well thats essential

standard 2cv engine block and crank, 9:1 pistons,2;1 tuned exhaust, standard M28 inlet manifold with solex for Alex and rentboys(some may have used the club webber kit some started on webbers but changed), shortened barrels, club camshaft',single piece stainless inlet valves, un filled heads( i think) and (theoretically) standard tappets, double springs (probably), lumenition and harley type coil.

when the webbers got going they seem fast tho prone to water ingestion when it rains and run very thirsty.

food for thought?
you gonna come play soon?
standard car?
Sean
